Itinerary of Uganda Wildlife Primates Safari

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport-Kampala

You’ll be personally met by our company representative upon arrival at Entebbe airport, and transfer to Kampala Serena Hotel (Lodge facility) or Cassia Lodge Overlooking Lake Victoria (Mid Lodge facility) or Forest Cottages Kampala (Budget facility) Meal plan: Dinner

Day 2: Kampala – Kidepo Valley National park.

Our guide/driver picks you from your hotel of residence after your breakfast at 0600 am in Kampala and start the panoramic drive north to Kidepo via Gulu and Lira with lunch enroute. The Park is a completely different world of vast plains, in spring view from every vantage point, with a lot of wildlife as you drive into the park. Kidepo offers breathtaking open savannah which is surrounded by spectacular mountain landscape nowhere to be seen in Africa! Day 3: Kidepo valley National park-game drive to Kanangorok hot springs

Early morning for breakfast, catch the sun rise behind the mountain before flooding the valley then off for the game drive to the ostrich farm it not any man made occurrence, but given the massive number of the birds one would compare it to this along the we shall be able to view, herds of elephants, cape buffalos, giraffes, lions and then the hot springs at Kanangorok,. In the afternoon have a cultural experience that will bring into contact with Karamojong peoples. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones and many more interesting items. Day 4: Kidepo Valley National Park

After an early breakfast, today is dedicated for a visit to the Ike Community (at Karenga and Kapedo) to learn and share their lifestyle. Learn about their traditional living, way of life and if possible engage in their day to day activities. Return to your lodge for overnight stay and dinner and overnight at Nga’ Moru Safari Lodge (Mid rage facility) Meal plan Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5: Kidepo Valley National Park-Murchison falls

Today is dedicated for a drive to Murchison falls with sightseeing and scenery a long. You will be move by the most beautiful scenery in the countryside. The evening is spent on relaxation and sightseeing around the lodge. Day 6 : Murchison Falls National Park

Begin the day with a cup of African Coffee ready for a game drive. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck,  Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob crocodile.  This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. There you leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the Top of the Falls (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge. Day 7: Murchison Falls National Park

At 0600 pm in the evening you go for a night game drive to search for nocturnal animals up to 1000pm in the night. Day 8: Murchison Falls –Lake Albert (Travel time +3hrs)

Leave Murchison for Hoima; drive at your convenience through the great escapements of Biso for a great winding scenery of Lake Albert. The afternoon is spent on sightseeing and relaxation. Overnight and meals at Lake Albert Safari Lodge (Only facility in the area) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 9: Kibale Forest National Park (Travel time +5hrs)

After breakfast drive to a place that rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon with enroute lunch at your preferred local hotel or restaurant. Meals and over night at Kyaninga Lodge (Lodge facility) or Primate Lodge-Forest Cottages (Mid Lodge) or Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget facility). Day 10: Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Today is dedicated for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience. Start the day with an morning early breakfast – a packed lunch and you are off before dawn breaks into the forest.  You meet your guide and you are off to where the chimpanzees built nests the night before. Dawn is just breaking and the chimpanzee community you are going to be with the rest of the day is rising from their sleep in the nests.

Your day will be full, your camera will fill up with quality pictures of the chimpanzees and you will get to learn to identify them as individuals by their markings, sometimes scars and other unique features that make them stand apart from rest. Besides everything described there are the most colorful butterflies, plants and trees that will amaze you –the setting is simply awesome. Day 11: Kibale –Queen Elizabeth NP

After an early morning breakfast, ready for Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, you will take on a guided walk around the Swamp which will provide you with the opportunity to see a wide range of flora and fauna. View a variety of butterflies, birds and other insects. Thereafter drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park viewing the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey at leisure. After lunch, take on an afternoon Launch cruise along Kazinga Channel – one that joins Lakes Edward and George. The cruise is a wonderful way to see hippo, buffalo, kob and the occasional Nile crocodile (which up until recently did not inhabit this area) and a spectacular bird watching on the water bank. Many who experience the launch cruise consider it the high light of their entire African safari. Day 12 : Queen Elizabeth –Ishasha

Begin your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning games drive with Lion Tracking Experiential Research Tour along Kasenyi and Queens Mile. Other wildlife to encounter includes elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, spotted hyenas, bush bucks, stripped jackal, comical warthogs, elusive leopard, Uganda Kobs, lakes and a variety of birds. Later proceed to Ishasha sector where you will take on yet another evening game drive in search of tree climbing lions. Day 13 : Ishasha-Bwindi

Early morning guided bush walk for a closer interaction with nature. The mid-morning will be spent on a game drive for the tree climbing lions. Thereafter head to Bwindi, the journey takes about 2 hours but driving through interesting features. Arrive Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it. Day 14: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking

After breakfast set off early with guides to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each gorilla safari encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rainforest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, it’s one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 720. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together. Time permitting, spend the afternoon on a community foot safari to explore the life style of the people living and surrounding the park. Return to camp exhilarated to relieve the encounter with friends over a drink. Day 15: Second Gorilla trekking

After breakfast, you will go for the second gorilla track but in another group returning in the afternoon for relaxation and sightseeing around the lodge. Day 16:  Batwa Cultural experience

Day 17: Bwindi – Lake Mburo NP

After early breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park via Igongo cultural village, this is the place where the future meets the past. Learn more about the Ankole culture. Proceed to the park do an enroute game drive as you go to check in at your lodge. An afternoon boat ride amidst hippos is much rewarding and amazing. Overnight stay at Mihingo Safari Lodge (Lodge facility) or Rwakobo Safari Lodge (Mid Lodge facility) or Eagles Nest Lodge (Budget facility) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 18: Lake Mburo NP

Morning game drive in the Park which is an is an extension of the Tanzanian Plains with big herds of Zebra, Impala, Eland , Warthogs ,buffalo and other savannah species. For birders, this is one of the best place to find African Fin foot, Papyrus, Bush Shrike, etc. The evening is spent on a bush walk for wildlife viewing.
