Napedet cave in Kidepo Valley National Park is a popular ancient recreational place which is believed to have been used by the first inhabitants of this area. They would gather here to engage in paintings according to their inspirations. The area was gazetted for visitors to view the old paintings as well as enjoying roaming antelopes, baboons, giraffes, and hartebeests in the reserve’s open plains.

The Napedet cave is located at the former key hunting area of the Pakwot and the Karamojong people generally. The Karamojong hunters could share and roast their meat from here at the Napedet cave.

The walls of Napedet cave are decorated with the ancient art showing the likes of animals like elands, roan antelopes, warthogs and giraffes.
