Apoka Rest Camp is a budget safari accommodation buried in the hearts of Kidepo Valley National Park at the park headquarter run and managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Apoka Rest Camp has sixteen chalets which are all self-contained with good looking beds and covered with mosquito nets. The rooms however are made and designed in African style of architecture with good fresh air although they do not have the air conditioner provided within them. Staying here needs more planning, you need to set what you will carry like food and drinks in advance so as to sustain your entire stay at the park.

The Apoka Rest Camp has fourteen bandas which has two beds suited inside however the rooms are not self contained.

Apoka Rest Camp has a large and clear compound which is greatly used for camping. If your interested in camping, you can secure yourself a camping ground, however you carry your own camping gears since the lodge only provide for you’re a camping ground.

The lodge does not have a running restaurant; you will need to carry your own food which you feed on, on your tour to this great lodge, we suggest you pack your food carried from Kampala or Mbale, Gulu and other reliable urban town, which may be having food of your interest. There is some refrigeration at the camp and you can bring in frozen meat. Eggs, bread, packaged soups are available in markets and you can create a stew from vegetable to beef or chicken.

No something like electricity here, you will use kerosene lamp at night which will agitate your reading.

Activities to enjoy at Apoka Rest Camp

Uganda is blessed with other spectacular destinations including Semuliki National Park famous for Hot spring and the great Shoebill stork bird. Mgahinga National Park is also a great place to visit far southwest of Uganda, which is a second home to the mountain gorillas in Uganda and the golden Monkeys

For those tourists that wish to cross to Rwanda from Mgahinga, this is so close for a chance to explore Volcanoes National Park well known for Gorilla treks in Rwanda and a hike to Bisoke Mountain. Other tourists find it worth to visit Akagera National Park a wildlife park in Rwanda that is famous for the Big Five and a boat safari on Lake Ihema
